The Kochhaus

What it is?
Grocery chain Kochhaus in Berlin has implemented an extraordinary retail strategy. Instead of simply grouping common food types together, the store is entirely structured by meal recipes. At each ‘recipe stall’ customers get all the ingredients together with the cooking instructions so they can prepare their own meals at home.

Why it is cool?
Since consumers are spoilt for choice, insight based retailing concepts like the Kochhaus hit the bullseye by providing guidance, inspiration and convenience. So it saves time choosing, shopping and preparing a meal.

CHAINdeliers

Wat is it?
Chandeliers made entirely out of repurposed old bike parts, are a nifty combination of interior decor and creative upcycling.  

Upcycling is the process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or a higher environmental value.

Why it is cool? 
It's amazing how beautiful en luxurious these chandeliers are, despite they're made of old bikes. These chandeliers don't look old. This is an perfect example beautiful upcycling could be.
But there is more. The designer, Carolina Fontoura Alzaga tries to avoid the world of excess. Everyday billions of new things are brought into the world when perfectly useful things already exist and the problem is that there are finite resources. Through her art and donations from her profits she's making this a better world for us and future generations.
